Scripts

short URL: scripts.coastforensicleague.org

All Platform and Interpretation speech events require that a script be turned in by the deadline and approved before the student is allowed to enter the CFL State Qualifier. Impromptu and Extemp do not require scripts.

At League 3 Speech, there will be an all Coaches meeting in the Tabroom to teach folks how to properly compile scripts for each respective event. All Coaches wishing to send a student to the State Qualifiers for Speech MUST attend this meeting.

Deadlines

Completed scripts for performance at the state qualifier shall be submitted no later than TBD PM. The form should be filled out by coaches only and will be distributed by email.

All coaches whose students are competing at the state qualifier are expected to attend the script reading at TBD on TBD at TBD.

All scripts will be approved by the coaches in attendance. Scripts with major problems will be flagged to the appropriate coaches with corrections. The corrected scripts must be resubmitted by Sunday, March 1st, 2019 prior to the start of Round 1 at the State Qualifying Tournament for Individual Events.

Qualifiers and alternates (i.e. any students placing in the top 14) must resubmit their scripts after the qualifying tournament no later than TBD. This will be a SEPARATE submission for from the one used prior to the qualifier. The form should be filled out by coaches only and will be distributed by email. After submission, coaches of students must digitally approve the submission and recruit one additional coach to also review the submission and verify its compliance with CHSSA rules. Scripts must have both approvals no later than TBD. Please contact the President or Scripts VP for access to the digital approval form.

Coversheets & Script Packets

Each script must be accompanied with a California High School Speech Association 2020 coversheet. There is one page to each coversheet.

Unlike previous years, a manuscript requirement checklist is NOT on the back on the coversheet. Please use the link below for a guide to preparing and compiling scripts.

CFL endorses the following student guide for preparing scripts: http://bit.ly/script-packet

The guide summarizes all the steps required to preparing the script packet, and includes links to several examples. The deadlines listed in the guide are not official CFL deadlines. You may freely distribute copies of this guide to your students. If you need to edit the guide to fit the needs of your school (such as setting different deadlines or submission process), click "Make a Copy" in the File menu after opening the document.

The cover sheets can be found on the CHSSA website (http://www.chssa.org/) or in this Google Drive Folder (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1M0yoWym8M1kU_l5827AGreX1HHWVCHDe).

Event Rules

Review the rules of the event to bring yourself up to date. Rules change often.
